WCPC had a very successful Red Ribbon Week 2020!
We provided PPE and coalition materials to all Weakley County School’s students and teachers. We are proud to announce one of our very own youth coalition members Paige Mallon, who also stars in our new “5 Facts” series, has been accepted into the TN Strong Ambassador Program!
We also presented on the dangers of alcohol to our Martin Enrichment Academy Youth Coalition and demonstrated the effects of alcohol using a game of “Gotcha” basketball with “beer goggles”.
Our prevention monitors have been updated twice over the course of the last month and now includes over 50 individual and unique prevention messages that stream to the students of all Weakley County middle and highscools.
Chris is currently working with our Regional CHI in developing more permanent housing for individuals in recovery. This is an important issue that helps with a safe and structured place once an individual’s treatment is done and returns back to their hometown without having to go back to their same environment.
For Drug Take Back Day on October 24th, Melesa was at the Dresden location in front of Bob’s Pharmacy. She noted 70 participants and collected 13 lbs. of medications. “We were able to handout all the lockboxes that were present, and we also took down names and addresses for participants that wanted a lockbox delivered at a DTBD.” In total the WCPC was able to take back 63.6 lbs of medications.
