WCPC is proud to welcome its newest Youth Coalition at the Martin Enrichment Academy.
Our new Martin Enrichment Youth Coalition hosted the Outdoor Movie Night on October 8th for the Martin Housing Authority residents. The students passed out information, food and resources to over 142 attendees! Our Youth Coordinator Cannon Brawley is very proud of his youth and cannot wait to see what the future holds for the MEA youth coalition and the others he will get to return to in the very near future!
Since our last meeting, Chris partnered with Riann Massie from 27th Judicial Recovery Court to start a Recovery Wellness Group in Gibson County at 2 locations in Milan and Humboldt. We want this to be another extended resource in the community for individuals in recovery.
Chris coordinated a new IOP Center in Carroll County for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, hoping to reduce the population of County inmates incarcerated and the recidivism rate. Chris is currently in training for his CPRS Certification through the state while also being in the middle of a semester in college.
Melesa notes that her greatest achievement for the month of September was planning and completing the events for IOAD in each county. This accomplishment took months of the best possible planning. She notes how thankful she is that she was not alone in planning all the in person and online events in honor of International Overdose Awareness. We support her in believing we can collectively have a greater impact. There were a great number of individuals and families seeking these resources and Melesa says she continues to be blessed by the opportunity to serve those battling a substance use disorder and being a resource in saving lives.
